Battistinis, Riding my motorcycle across the USA. . . . .

Battistinis, Riding my motorcycle across the USA. . . . .

So there we were sitting at the computer thinking that it would be nice to go out for a quick spin tonight as the weather looks nice, when crash bang wallop the email inbox chimes and we think that the little ride we had planned was not really that special after all. That is when we compare it to what our good friend Gary is currently undertaking, a whopper of a 4 month, 15,000 mile road trip across the states on his Harley. In his own words please read the email below that Gary sent our way and make sure to hit up his blog every day as it’s a great daily read of the trip that leaves us all wishing that we were also on the bike rather than in the office chair!

Hi to all,

I thought I would give you an update of what I am doing.

As some of the recipients of this e-mail will know, I am currently doing a 4 month, 15,000 mile motorcycle ride across the USA on my Harley-Davidson. I have now completed 3,000 miles through the states of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Vermont. I also went into Canada for a short period. Right now I am the Adirondacks, a beautiful area in northern New York State. I have seen some fantastic sights already and I am sure there will be many more to come. I have experienced scorching temperatures over the past few weeks – at times it has been like riding with 20 hairdryers blowing in your face!

Shipping my motorcycle to the USA was very simple and I am really glad I did this. There is nothing quite like riding your own bike on a trip like this.

I am doing this journey in order to fulfil a long-held ambition, which is to make up for the fact that I never did anything like this when I was younger. I left school early, dived straight into work and I missed out on many of the experiences that many young people enjoy. I didn’t go on exotic school trips, I didn’t go to university and experience the lifestyle that goes with that and I didn’t ever do anything like take a year out travelling. What I have done is to work hard and often wonder what an “adventure” must be like. This trip across the USA is at last setting that wondering aside as I experience adventure for myself. There is a map at the bottom of this e-mail that shows where I have been and where I am going and as you will see, it takes in a great deal of the USA.

I am writing about my trip in a blog because I want to record where I go, what I see and who I meet. In years to come, I want to be able to look back at what I did and I will try to keep the blog updated every day, but no promises! If you want to occasionally take a look at where I am or what I have been doing here is a link to my blog.... http://garysusatour.blogspot.com/

There is of course one person that I really would like to thank for making this trip possible and that is my wife, Jackie. I am very lucky that Jackie understands and supports my need to fulfil my ambition.

Best wishes,

Gary France

Hi all at Battistinis. Thanks for putting this on your blog! All rides are special, be that just a few miles or a longer one like mine! I have now reached Niagara Falls and I am now heading west across the northern states. Next main points of interest are The H-D museum in Milwaukee and then Sturgis!

Cheers.

Gary

Hi Gary,

You are very true they all are! With that the case we are just getting suited and booted and hitting the South coast riviera, a.k.a Poole, for the bike night! The HD museum sounds great, sturgis, well need we say more!
